General Permit Questions:

Can I get a permit on-line?
At the present time there is no on-line procedure for obtaining a permit.  A
permit application can be downloaded by clicking here, but it must be filled out and returned for approval and pricing.  Payment must be mailed or brought to City Hall for processing. Please keep in mind that submission of an application does not clear you to commence work until it is approved and signed by the Codes Official.

Do I need a Permit to demolish a house?
Yes. A demolition permit is required before demolition begins.

Do I need a Permit to paint?
No.  A permit is not required for painting.

If you own your home, do you have to get a permit?
Yes.  Check with building officials before you commit to any work.

Do I need a Permit to place a manufactured home on a lot?

Yes. A manufactured home has to be approved on a case by case basis.  There is a fee based on the type of home (Ex. Singlewide or Doublewide).  Permits are also required for electrical, mechanical, and water hook-ups.


Will I need a Permit to move a house?
Yes.  A city permit is required before moving a house.


Do I need a permit to install a fence around my yard?

Yes. Refer to Municode Appendix A (Zoning), Article X, Section 1005 (Required Permits)


Do I need a permit to fix my roof?
Check with the Department of Community Development before any work is started.


Is the homeowner responsible for obtaining a permit, or is it the contractor’s responsibility?

The homeowner is considered to be the permit holder.  It is the homeowner’s responsibility to obtain the proper permits that are required.  The contractor may obtain the permit as part of the job, but the homeowner is responsible for making sure permits as obtained.

Do I need a Permit to put new fixtures in a bathroom?
You do not need a permit to replace bathroom fixtures, but a permit is required if you move the fixtures to another area in the bathroom.  Refer to

Do I need a permit to replace a waterline?

Building Permits:


When do I need a building permit?
You need a permit for any work exceeding a cost for $100.00 with some exceptions.  Please call the Community Development Department at 229-276-2915 to inquire about permit requirements.

Do I need a permit to build a swimming pool?
Yes. Refer to

Do I need a permit to build an addition to my house?
Yes. Refer to

Do I need a permit to build a storage building in my back yard?

Do I need to have building plans prior to obtaining a permit?
The need for building plans vary with the size, scope, and complexity of the project.  Smaller jobs may only require a verbal description of the work proposed.  Larger jobs often require signed, stamped plans from a design professional.

Do I need a permit in order to put a sign in my yard or place of business?
Yes.  The placement, size, and type of sign varies from zone to zone.  Refer to

Do I need a permit to fix areas on my house (i.e. siding)?
Yes. Refer to
Municode Appendix A (Zoning), Article X, Section 1005 (Required Permits)

Do I need a permit before I start building?
Yes.  Building permits are required before work is started. This allows Code Officials the opportunity to be sure that all code
requirements are addressed before a project is started.

Do I need a permit to add a pre-built storage unit in my yard?
Yes. Pre-built storage buildings do require a permit.  They are treated the same as a site-built structure.

Do I need a permit to build within a historical district?
Yes.  In order to build within a historical district, the homeowner must complete an application which will go before the Historic Preservation Commission for approval.  Once the application is approved by the Historic Preservation Commission, the building permit can be issued.

How long do building permits last before they expire?
Building permits expire if work is not started within six (6) months from the permit issue date.

Do I need a permit to fix my roof?
Check with the Department of Community Development before any work is started.




COMMUNITY CLUBHOUSE





How much does it cost to rent the Clubhouse?

Deposit-$250.00; Rent for city resident-$150.00; Rent for non-city resident-$200.00

How many tables and chairs are in there?
Chairs-200 Tables- 28 rectangle and 5 round

Is alcohol permitted?
No.

What is the max capacity?
State Fire Marshall's capacity is 441.

Is there a sound system?
No

Are grills allowed?
Yes. They must be outside and the area must be cleaned afterwards.

Can you hang pictures on the walls?
​No

Is the deposit refunded?
Yes, after cleaning and returning the key.  The deposit will be refunded within 30 days.

Can I use the same deposit for another event?
Yes, your deposit can be rolled over.

What time can I go into the clubhouse?
​From 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.
